WBS Rollup

Available in: All plans
Last updated: 06-Mar-2026

Overview

The WBS tab within Comparison shows changes aggregated at every level of the Work Breakdown Structure. Instead of scanning hundreds of individual activities, you can see at a glance which WBS branches experienced the most change — then expand to drill down.

How Rollup Works

  1. Kazinex matches WBS nodes between the current and baseline schedules by WBS short name (the unique code, not the description).
  2. Each leaf-level activity is classified as Added, Deleted, Modified, or Unchanged.
  3. Counts are rolled up through the hierarchy — a parent WBS node shows the sum of all child changes.
  4. WBS nodes themselves can also be Added, Deleted, or have their properties changed (name, parent assignment).

WBS Comparison Grid

The grid displays these columns:

ColumnDescription
WBS CodeShort name of the WBS node (e.g., 1.3.2)
WBS NameDescription of the WBS element
LevelDepth in the hierarchy (1 = top)
StatusAdded, Deleted, Modified, or Unchanged
Added ActivitiesCount of new activities under this WBS node
Deleted ActivitiesCount of removed activities under this WBS node
Modified ActivitiesCount of changed activities under this WBS node
Total Activities (Current)Activity count in the current schedule under this node
Total Activities (Baseline)Activity count in the baseline schedule under this node

Change Categories at WBS Level

ChangeMeaning
WBS AddedEntire WBS branch exists in Current but not Baseline
WBS DeletedEntire WBS branch exists in Baseline but not Current
WBS RenamedWBS name changed but code is the same
WBS MovedWBS node reassigned to a different parent
Activities ChangedOne or more activities under this node were added, deleted, or modified

Tree View

The WBS tab renders as an expandable tree:

  • Root node shows the project-level totals.
  • Click the expand arrow to reveal child WBS nodes.
  • Each node displays inline badges for Added (green), Deleted (red), and Modified (amber) counts.
  • Nodes with zero changes are dimmed.

Sorting and Filtering

  • Sort by column — Click any column header to sort ascending or descending.
  • Filter by status — Use the status dropdown to show only Added, Deleted, or Modified WBS nodes.
  • Search — Type in the search box to filter by WBS code or name.

Tips

Focus on high-change branches

Sort by Modified Activities descending to find the WBS branches with the most changes. These are usually the areas requiring the most review.

WBS structure changes

If the WBS hierarchy itself was restructured (nodes moved or renamed), the WBS tab highlights these structural changes separately from activity-level changes.
