Overview
The Gantt chart supports multiple zoom levels and navigation modes so you can view anything from an hourly breakdown of a two-week lookahead to a multi-year programme overview. The timescale header uses a configurable two-tier layout that adapts automatically to your zoom level.
Zoom Levels
Kazinex provides six zoom presets. Switch between them using the zoom controls in the Gantt toolbar or with keyboard shortcuts.
| Zoom Level | Pixels/Day | Major Header | Minor Header | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hour | 480 | Day (dd MMM) | Hour (HH:mm) | Detailed daily planning |
| Day | 30 | Week (dd MMM) | Day (dd) | Weekly lookahead |
| Week (default) | 15 | Month (MMM yyyy) | Week (dd) | General project review |
| Month | 3 | Quarter (Qo yyyy) | Month (MMM) | Programme-level overview |
| Quarter | 1 | Year (yyyy) | Quarter (Qo) | Multi-year programmes |
| Year | 0.25 | Year (yyyy) | Year (yyyy) | Portfolio timelines |
Two-Tier Timeline Headers
The timeline header displays two rows of labels. Choose from five tier configurations:
| Tier Mode | Top Row | Bottom Row | Suggested Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Year / Quarter | Years | Quarters | Multi-year programmes |
| Year / Month (default) | Years | Months | 1–3 year projects |
| Quarter / Month | Quarters | Months | 6–18 month programmes |
| Month / Week | Months | Weeks | 3–12 month projects |
| Week / Day | Weeks | Day initials | 1–3 month lookahead |
Change the tier mode in Gantt Settings → Timescale.

Split-Pane Navigation
In Split view mode, the grid and Gantt share a synchronised vertical scroll. Each pane has its own horizontal scrollbar. Drag the centre divider to resize panes (minimum 260 px each side). Double-click the divider to reset to a 50/50 split.
Viewport & Date Range
The visible date range (viewport) is determined by your zoom level and the current scroll position. Kazinex calculates data bounds from your schedule's earliest and latest dates and uses those as the natural scroll limits.
Tips & Best Practices
- Use Fit to Window when you first open a schedule to see the full timeline
- Switch to Week / Day tier mode for detailed look-ahead analysis
- Use Ctrl + scroll to zoom into a specific area of interest
- Press Ctrl + G to quickly jump back to the data date after navigating
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Chart appears blank | Viewport is outside the schedule date range | Click Fit to Window or press Home |
| Bars are tiny dots | Zoom level too coarse for the project duration | Zoom in, or use a finer zoom preset |
| Timeline labels overlap | Zoom too fine for the visible area width | Zoom out one level |
| Scroll not synchronised | Split-pane scroll can de-sync after resize | Click any row to re-sync |
