Overview
Quality Settings lets you customize every aspect of how Kazinex scores your schedule. Adjust individual check thresholds, enable or disable checks, configure Primavera attribute rules, manage exclusion keywords, and set up weightage distributions — all from a single modal.
Open it from the Quality tab by clicking the Settings (⚙) button.
Settings Tabs
The Quality Settings modal has five tabs:
1. Quality Checks
Toggle individual checks on or off. Disabled checks are skipped during analysis and appear greyed out in the check results.
Checks are grouped by category:
- Logic & Relationships (8 checks)
- Durations (6 checks)
- Critical Path (2 checks)
- Constraints (4 checks)
- Resources (2 checks)
- Progress (2 checks)
- Configuration Attributes (5 checks)
- Best Practices (3 checks + 1 opt-in)
- Regional (2 checks)
Click the toggle next to any check to enable or disable it. Disabled checks do not affect the overall quality score.
2. General (Thresholds & Weights)
Adjust the threshold values and weights for every check. Thresholds are organized by category in collapsible accordion sections.
Threshold examples:
- Missing Logic: Adjust the percentage of activities that must have predecessors and successors (default 95%)
- High Duration: Adjust the maximum day count (default 14 working days) and percentage threshold (default 5%)
- High Float: Adjust the float day limit (default 44 days)
- FS Relationships: Adjust the minimum FS percentage (default 90%)
- Critical Path: Adjust the percentage range (default 5–10%)
Per-check weights control how much each individual check contributes within its category. Values range from 0.5 to 10 (default varies by check).
3. Configuration Attributes
Define the allowed Primavera attribute values for each configuration check:
| Attribute | What You Configure |
|---|---|
| Activity Type | Which activity types are permitted (e.g., Task Dependent, Resource Dependent, Level of Effort, Start Milestone, Finish Milestone) |
| % Complete Type | Which percent complete methods are approved (Physical, Duration, Units) |
| Duration Type | Which duration types are allowed (Fixed Duration & Units, Fixed Units/Time, etc.) |
| Constraint Type | Which primary constraint types are permitted |
| Secondary Constraint Type | Which secondary constraint types are permitted |
For each attribute, you can set a severity level for violations (Critical, Major, Minor, Info).
4. Exclusion Keywords
Manage keyword lists that certain checks use to classify activities:
| Keyword List | Used By | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Approval Keywords | Approval Duration check | Identify activities that represent approval or review processes |
| Manufacturing Keywords | High Duration check | Identify manufacturing activities that may legitimately have long durations |
| Labour Keywords | Resource Loading check | Identify labour-related activity naming patterns |
Add or remove keywords to match your organization's naming conventions.
5. Weightage
Configure weighted progress measurement across WBS or Activity Code levels. This is an opt-in feature — enable it to activate the Weightage Distribution check.
Settings include:
- Enable/disable weightage checking
- Measurement basis — WBS or Activity Code
- Target distribution — Expected weightage values per level
System Presets
Kazinex ships with four system presets that configure all thresholds at once:
| Preset | Best For | Key Differences |
|---|---|---|
| Standard (DCMA 14-Point) | General-purpose, balanced governance | Default thresholds matching DCMA guidance. Logic 95%, FS 90%, constraints 2, high duration 14 days, resources 95%. |
| Design & FEED Contracts | Early-phase design projects | Relaxed thresholds: logic 88%, FS 78%, constraints 4, high duration 30 days, resources 78%, float 60 days. |
| EPC / Design-Build | Construction execution schedules | Tighter thresholds: logic 98%, FS 93%, constraints 1, high duration 12 days, resources 98%, float 30 days. |
| Level 3 Integrated Master Schedule | Large programme-level schedules | Broader thresholds: logic 92%, FS 85%, constraints 3, high duration 45 days, resources 90%, float 60 days. |
To apply a preset:
- Open Quality Settings.
- Select a preset from the dropdown at the top.
- All thresholds update to the preset's values.
- You can still make individual adjustments on top of the preset.
Category Weights
Category weights determine how much each check category influences the overall quality score:
| Category | Weight |
|---|---|
| Logic & Relationships | 20% |
| Critical Path | 15% |
| Float Analysis | 15% |
| Durations | 15% |
| Constraints | 10% |
| Resources | 10% |
| Progress Tracking | 10% |
| Best Practices | 2.5% |
| Regional Compliance | 1.5% |
| Configuration Attributes | 1% |
| Total | 100% |
Logic, Critical Path, Float, and Durations carry the highest combined weight (65%) because they have the greatest impact on schedule reliability and forecasting accuracy.
Saving & Syncing
Quality Settings are saved in two places for reliability:
| Storage | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Local storage | Offline-first — settings are always available, even without internet |
| Cloud (Supabase) | Cross-device sync — your settings follow you to any browser or computer |
When you save settings:
- Changes are saved to local storage immediately.
- If you are signed in, changes are synced to the cloud.
- Next time you sign in on another device, cloud settings are loaded automatically.
If there is a conflict between local and cloud settings, the cloud version takes precedence on login.
