Project Roles

Overview
Every uploaded schedule in Kazinex can be assigned a role that determines how it is used across the application. Roles affect quality checks, schedule comparison, AI Copilot context, and dashboard metrics.
Role Types
| Role | Badge Colour | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Current | Blue | The active working schedule — used as the primary data source for quality checks, the Activities grid, Gantt chart, and AI Copilot |
| Baseline | Green | The approved reference schedule — used as the comparison target for variance analysis and baseline comparison features |
| Archived | Grey | Older schedule versions kept for historical reference — excluded from dashboard metrics |
| None | No badge | Newly uploaded schedules that have not been assigned a role yet |
Only one project can be marked as Current and one as Baseline at any time within a workspace.
Assigning Roles
From the Projects Tab
- Navigate to the Projects tab
- Find the project you want to assign
- Right-click (or click the ⋮ menu) → select Mark as Current or Mark as Baseline
- The previous holder of that role is automatically demoted to None
From the Import Wizard
During upload, the Import Wizard offers a checkbox to immediately mark the new schedule as Current or Baseline.
Quick Switch
Click the role badge on any project card to cycle through available roles: None → Current → Baseline → Archived → None.
How Roles Affect Features
Quality Checks
| Feature | Current | Baseline | Archived | None |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Quality score displayed | ✓ | ✓ | — | — |
| Included in portfolio average | ✓ | — | — | — |
| Progress checks available | ✓ | — | — | — |
Schedule Comparison
The Comparison tab uses Current and Baseline as the default pair:
- Left side (Current): The working schedule showing the latest status
- Right side (Baseline): The approved reference for variance calculation
You can override this default by manually selecting any two projects in the comparison selector.
AI Copilot
The AI Copilot uses the Current project as its primary context. When you ask questions or request modifications, the Copilot reads from and writes to the Current schedule. If a Baseline is set, the Copilot can also reference it for comparison-based questions.
Dashboard & Portfolio
Only projects marked as Current contribute to the Portfolio Overview KPIs (on-track rate, average quality score, schedule health).
Role Change History
Every role change is logged in the Change History panel:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Action | Role Changed |
| From | Previous role (e.g., None) |
| To | New role (e.g., Current) |
| By | User who made the change |
| Timestamp | When the change occurred |
Best Practices
- Always set a Baseline before beginning progress updates — this ensures comparison features show meaningful variances.
- Archive old schedules rather than deleting them so you retain a full audit trail.
- Mark Current immediately after uploading a new update so that the dashboard, quality checks, and AI Copilot all reflect the latest data.
