Resource Checks
Category weight: 10% of overall score
Checks in this category: 2
Resource checks verify that activities have appropriate resource assignments and that resource loading is consistent. A schedule without resources cannot support earned value analysis or resource levelling.
Missing Resources
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Check ID | missing-resources |
| DCMA Reference | Point 10 |
| Default Threshold | ≥ 95% of activities should have at least one resource assignment |
| Severity | Minor |
Detects activities that have no resource assignments — no labour, equipment, or material resources are allocated.
What triggers a finding: An activity with zero resource assignments.
Exceptions: Milestones and Level of Effort activities may legitimately have no resources. The threshold accommodates a small percentage of unresourced activities.
Why it matters: Activities without resources cannot be included in resource histograms, S-curves, or earned value calculations. If your organization uses resource loading for reporting, gaps in resource assignments create blind spots.
Resource Loading
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Check ID | resource-loading |
| DCMA Reference | Point 10 |
| Default Threshold | 8-aspect validation suite |
| Severity | Minor |
A comprehensive resource validation that checks multiple aspects of resource data quality:
| Aspect | What It Checks |
|---|---|
| Cost | Activities have budgeted costs assigned |
| Progress Units | Actual units align with percent complete |
| Labour | Labour resource assignments exist and have unit values |
| Equipment | Equipment resources, where assigned, have valid data |
| Material | Material resources, where assigned, have valid quantities |
| Calendars | Resource calendars are assigned and valid |
| Availability | Resource availability limits are defined |
| Balance | Resource loading is reasonably balanced across the schedule |
What triggers a finding: Any of the 8 aspects fails its individual validation criteria.
Why it matters: Partial resource data is often worse than no resource data — it can produce misleading earned value metrics and incorrect resource forecasts.
