Canvas Layout Modes
Report Forge supports grid and freeform canvas modes. Choose the mode before placing many components because switching layout modes can remove the current body layout.
Grid mode​
Use grid mode for structured reports that need predictable rows, columns, and responsive organization. It works well for dashboards, repeated KPI rows, tables, and standard report sections.
Freeform mode​
Use freeform mode for print-first layouts where precise placement matters. It works well for board packs, formal PDF pages, cover pages, and custom arrangements.

Good practice​
Pick the layout mode early, place core components, then style. Avoid switching modes late in the design unless you are prepared to rebuild the page layout.
