Data Binding

Data binding connects blueprint fields to output components. A component cannot tell a useful story until the fields, aggregation, and display format match the report question.

Report Forge data binding workflow

Binding sequence​

  1. Select the component.
  2. Choose the source section.
  3. Choose fields for labels, values, dates, categories, or details.
  4. Set aggregation if multiple rows should summarize into one value.
  5. Preview against an edition with realistic data.

Binding checks​

  • Does the component use fields from a coherent reporting section?
  • Is the value field numeric when the component expects a number?
  • Is the date or period field consistent across rows?
  • Is aggregation explicit enough for reviewers to trust the result?
