The ribbon is the primary command bar in the Output Designer. It is divided into five tabs — Home, Insert, Page Layout, View, and Data — each grouping related commands. The ribbon is always visible when the Output Designer is open.
Home tab
Save and publish
| Command | Description |

| Save | Saves all pending changes to the output template. Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+S. |
| Publish | Makes the output available for governed use. Requires the Publish permission. Published outputs are locked from further edits until unpublished. |
| Unpublish | Returns a published output to draft, allowing further edits. |
Edit history
| Command | Description |

| Undo | Reverses the most recent change. Ctrl+Z. Supports up to 50 undo steps. |
| Redo | Reapplies the most recently undone change. Ctrl+Y. |
Clipboard
| Command | Description |
|---|
| Cut | Removes the selected component(s) to the clipboard. |
| Copy | Copies the selected component(s) to the clipboard. |
| Paste | Pastes from the clipboard onto the current page. Paste respects the layout mode (grid or freeform). |
| Duplicate | Creates a copy of the selected component in place. Faster than copy + paste. |
| Delete | Removes the selected component(s) permanently. |
Context
| Command | Description |

| Edition selector | Dropdown to select which edition's data is used for the canvas preview. Switch to an edition with realistic data to preview bindings before publishing. |
| Layout mode | Toggle between Grid and Freeform layout modes. |
| Export | Export the current output to PDF, Excel, Word, or CSV. Export format availability depends on the output's configured export support. |
Insert tab
The Insert tab adds components and layout elements to the current page.

Click a component in the Insert tab to place it at the next available grid slot, or drag it onto the freeform canvas at a specific position.
Page Layout tab
Configures the page properties for the current page.

| Page size | Select a preset: A4, A3, Letter, Legal, Tabloid, or Custom (width × height in mm). |
| Orientation | Portrait or Landscape. |
| Margins | Preset margin sizes (Normal, Narrow, Wide, Mirror) or custom values per side (mm). |
| Columns | Multi-column grid layout (1–4 columns) for the page canvas. |
| Background | Set a page background color or background image. |
| Page border | Add a styled border around the entire page (useful for formal report pages). |
| Apply to all pages | Apply the current page layout settings to all pages in the output. |
View tab
Controls the designer view and canvas display aids.

| Preview mode | Switch between Design mode (editable) and Preview mode (read-only data preview). |
| Zoom | Zoom in / out / reset to 100%. Keyboard: Ctrl+= and Ctrl+-. |
| Fit to window | Fit the entire page width into the visible canvas area. |
| Grid | Show or hide the layout grid overlay. |
| Snap to grid | Enable or disable snapping of components to the grid. |
| Guides | Show or hide alignment guide lines. |
| Rulers | Show or hide horizontal and vertical rulers. |
| Component list | Open the component tree panel listing all components on the current page by name and type. |
| Page thumbnails | Toggle a thumbnail sidebar showing all pages in the output for quick navigation. |
Data tab
Manages data connections and refresh for the output.

| Data connections | View and manage the data connections this output uses. Open the connection manager to add or modify connections. |
| Refresh | Force a data refresh from all connected sources for the current preview edition. |
| Field manager | View all fields and calculated fields available in the output's blueprint sections. Add, edit, or delete calculated fields. |
| Parameters | Open the parameter manager to view, add, edit, or delete report parameters. |
| Preview data | Open a raw data viewer for a selected section showing the actual rows returned by the current edition's data. Useful for debugging binding issues. |
